Choosing Tarp Size

Before selecting a tarp size there are two things you should consider.
  1. Tarps sizes are described as cut sizes. After the seam has been sewn tarps are 4-6 inches smaller than the specified sizes
  2. The finished opening of the canopy will be smaller than the tarp width due to the fact the tarp has to go up and over the peak. Here are examples of the approximate final opening for 3 different roof slopes using a 10 foot wide tarp and 1 inch fittings.

Peak Style Finished Gable End Opening Width
Low Peak 102 Degree 9 feet 11 1/2 inches
Medium Peak 110 Degree 9 feet 6 3/4 inches
High Peak 120 Degree 8 feet 9 3/4 inches

Choose a tarp width that provides the finished width you need. The finished length is approximately the same as the described tarp length. This is due to the fact that the canopy frame extends past the edge of the tarp. This provide a place to connect the ball ties which keep the tarp stretched tight. To get a better idea of how this is assembled see these set up instructions.

If you prefer to have the frame covered you should select a valance tarp. The valance tarps come in medium peak 110 degree style. The size is also a cut size so the finished opening size is the same as described above.
